Saturday, Feb. 7th
Woke up to a brand new day. I guess it’s one of those days you literally got up on the happy side of the bed. Had a long good morning phone call with my baby. Then some big news, I am moving to my new room on Friday Feb 13!. Woohoo. Then I got to chat with Ais and saw her super cute baby Luigi. I remembered that today was Rubs’ bday too. And was so overwhelmed that it’s the big 30 for her na. OMG, we really grew up.
So this is when I remembered that time in high school. I think it was DEM after a movie in SMNE. If I remember correctly it was when we watched Father of the Bride together.
After the movie, we went to eat and hang-out at Mcdo, and for some reason, we got to talking about the future. We said that we had to write down our marriage predictions so- to-speak, and then placed a bet that if it ever comes true, that is the first person who will get married must treat everyone to a five-star hotel buffet dinner. The funny thing was we wrote down those things on a piece of Mcdo’s tissue and had everyone sign it in approval. Hahaha. I can’t exactly remember what it said but I knew it was something like “K will marry Maui’s son, or vice versa”. And then the deadline would be Maui’s 27th bday. So guys, can we collect on the bet? Hahaha.
I thought I ought to pay tribute to my greatest Mcdo moments too. Here’s my top 5:
5. Mcdo in front of The Manila Hilton sometime in 1984
I remember when I was about 6 yrs old and we stayed with my aunt in her hotel room. Everyday they left my sister and me in the room and they gave us Mcdo money and told the hotel guard that we could only go as far as Mcdo and back. Hehehe.
4. Mcdo SMNE sometime in1994
Fortune telling on a tissue paper. Got to be a DEM classic.
I think that piece of paper is still in the logbook.
3. Mcdo Katips summer of ’96
Ordering 1 single’s chicken and 10 extra rice and eating Maui’s adobo at Maita’s Golden Crescent unit. We went there in the clothes we slept in, complete with short shorts and flip flops. Just across that building, I also miss that S.R. Thai resto where we used to eat whenever we're so hungry for rice.
4. Mcdo (somewhere in Makati, back of People Support?) January 2008
the DEM nightcap after Leng’s wedding. It felt like the highschool barkada just after prom. We had coffee and fries. It was when I told people I was in love with a certain hot girl in a silver dress.
1. Mcdo (along Dela Costa) October 2008 and current Mcdo place favorite
The morning after a sleepless night with my one. It's also the first time I ever jaywalked in Makati, as my baby and I crossed Buendia to get to it. The place was a bit crowded and noisy at 9am. Kids from call centers were having breakfast. I sat across my one. And had longganisa and eggs. Somehow in all that noise and people buzzing around, I knew that morning that it was going to be the start of my beautiful new life.
So I realized how far we've come to our future. Maybe the tissue paper bet still stands. 6 of 9 of us is married. We got 3 super cute dembudlings and 1 more on the way. F is the only one left 20-something. And yeah, I am still eating at a nearby Mcdo but this time, I'm holding hands with the silver girl. What a wonderful, wonderful world. :)
Hey, that's a really good one! Because I lived in Golden Crescent, I felt like many scenes from my own personal soap opera happened at McDo Katips (friends, crushes, studying for exams, broke, LQ, hehehe).
