leeching and seeding

My brother introduced me to mininova and u-torrent. Our first project was to download Ratatouille, which I enjoyed very much. Vince and I had a good laugh watching that movie.  I was inspired to try the free dvds out of p2p (peer-to-peer) sharing and I realize that there is a good thing about it. You can feel the goodwill of people sharing those seeds. The movie was DVD perfect, complete and freely shared. I think this p2p can contribute to overall peace and goodwill of men. Alas, I have become a movie pirate, but I also have a good feeling to have received a freebie from a stranger which in turn makes me want to give all that I downloaded to the next in line. And as a product of today’s goodwill, 8 hours later I have downloaded 3 movies. The other two were. “The Prestige” and “Stardust”, both of which I plan to watch later. The Prestige was a highly recommended title from the last DEM lunch, so I really planned to get it. Stardust was a result of a top 10 movie search I did, and I selected it out of the good titles I missed. Plus of course, we want to see Michelle Pfeiffer, after so many, many years if she still had the reason why she was no. 2 in highschool’s WMG – Winona, Michelle and Gabrielle Anwar. There are now so many variations to that list. It’s been after all more than a decade. Currently, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Alba (before Good Luck Chuck) and Keira Knightley (from her work in Pride and Prejudice) are in the current top three. I was inspired to download titles because of a very clear copy of I am Legend I got to watch on my PC waiting for new year’s eve, also courtesy of mininova. Will give you my reviews later on.

I still haven’t completed  the blog of the DEM best hirits, as I am still polishing the punchlines. Things to do in 2008? Hmmm. .. here's K's new year's wishlist:

  1. Detoxify, diet and exercise.
  2. Create a daily journal and spend self-time once a day.
  3. Keep in touch with friends and family via internet. Make it a habit.
  4. Save money. First time I didn’t go to a mall during all the holidays and as such, am so proud of myself.
  5. Write. That is my best talent so I should build up my portfolio. Start on the Adriana novel and put the heartbreak to good use.
  6. Learn, research and read. Keep the good ol’ brain working and alive and growing. Everyday offers a new thing to discover.
  7. Entertain myself. Watch movies more, play sports, go back to doing the things I love more than the things I need to do.
  8. Be more appreciative of all that I have and the people around me. Be the first to be more cheerful and happy and kindness will follow.
  9. Communicate more. Write letters. Blog. Share thoughts. An open mind is good but an open heart is great.
  10. Rekindle the memories but stock up on new memories. Live for today and tomorrow..instead of dwelling on the past.
  11. Take risks, be brave, and do not waste any time. This year may be good for that major change I keep postponing. Find enough guts to make it happen.
  12. Live life. Live Well. Live Venti. Do everything I can do today. Maximize each day to the fullest. Renew on hope each day and live bright, sunshiny and bubbly.

May you guys have the best year in 2008.

Much love and happiness to all! Cheers!

  1. Every year, i keep putting diet and exercise, but i never seem to lose the 20 pounds that i always target for the new year. Maybe the less i think of dieting, the less i'll think of food, and the less i'll actually eat.
