I thought I’d say hello. I haven’t found the blogging bug lately. I did find a weird but cute, multi-colored bug crawling on the door of our balcony and I must say I was impressed that my moto phone really takes good shots.

So what’s up?
I gotta say my life is pretty different now. Laid back and happy and I’m more at peace with myself. Every morning I wake up, I feel glorious and blessed with fortune that I wake up with my one in my arms smiling while sleeping. I always tend to wake up 10 minutes before so I can look at her calm, contented baby face, dreaming away. Then I give her a little shove and a kiss, “Baby, 8:30 na, don’t you have a 9am meeting?”, and she jumps off the bed and takes a shower and leaves in 15 minutes. That’s on an abnormal day. Mostly we lie in bed ‘til ten, take breakfast ‘til 11, and see each other for lunch at 12.
Today I am in a good mood. Everyday when I wake up, I strip naked and weigh myself in our trusty old health-o-meter. This I do because I realized that my shorts and shirts usually way 1 pound by themselves, and even that matters when we have a target. My diet is this – don’t eat rice but enjoy food, exercise when there is an audience, haha, and pray each morning that you lose a couple of pounds. Hmm, still works, slowly but surely. We have put rewards on the target weight and it makes it more exciting. I reached the first target today. So clap, clap, it does work after all.
After sending my baby off to work, from the window I watch her car cruise away from the building, I think about how to spend another day. I make myself some coffee and heat up some bagels and eat it with cream cheese. Yummy. I plan for what to make for lunch. You can call me top chef now, I guess. Hehehe. I have learned to cook a couple of things. Baby thought me a couple good recipes, and the others are from our South Beach recipe book. Here’s my repertoire of gastronomic delights:
Linguine in Olive Oil, Garlic and Tomato
Chicken Lettuce Wraps with Hoisin Sauce
Chicken/Beef/Pork Fajitas
BBQ chicken wings
Green Beans in Garlic and Oyster Sauce
Pork Cutlets in Lime and Pesto
Creamy Carbonara with Ham and Mushrooms
South Beach Burger in Dijon Mustard
We have perfected those recipes and we just love eating them. We’re experimenting on desserts now. We still love the mango with graham crackers in white cream and milk.
This is our new twist in the diet, after doing South Beach semi-strictly a month before, we have introduced Carbs and sugar and fruits back in. We just need a bit more exercise.
Last week, (under strict supervision, hahaha), I managed to do the 30 minute Pilates Exercise Ball work out, or so I think. I think my instructor burned more calories than me, supporting the ball, and helping me balance myself on it. It was a good stretch. I do agree that doing sit-ups on a ball is easier than doing it on the floor. Baby made me do 10, and I got a reward for effort. I better suck it up because next time it’s 50, hahaha. And it’s kinda cool how you can play and roll on the floor on it. Funny thing was when I held up the huge ball up from my torso to the top of my head to work out my biceps, baby said I looked like I was playing basketball, and I couldn’t for the love of me, shake off my shooter’s stance.
Usually we go for a short 30 min run on the gym on the Elliptical. We tend to be competitive when we’re side by side. Baby’s faster so I had to keep up. I did 3 km and burned 300 cal last time. Afterwards, we had a snack so I guess running only builds appetite. We do go swimming at night. If you define swimming as “floating for a bit, wading and running underwater, and swimming with 5 sec breathing intervals”, I guess we won’t call it exercise too. Bottom line is that we at least get to flex a bit, and I can see it become more of a habit, rather than something you have to do.
Back in a while, I remember that I have to bake us some bbq chicken wings for lunch.
I suddenly feel like blogging again. I’m thinking of writing a book, “What to do when you’re not doing anything”…more of that later.
You make cooking sound so effortless. I tried to fry chicken yesterday and swore I'd never do it again. And I fell asleep from exhaustion after washing all the pots and pans I used :)
ReplyDeletecan you easily buy Dijon mustard there?
ReplyDelete@k - oo nga, stressful magluto! yung iisipin mo pa lang lulutuin eh toxic na! so, k, show us some photos, ikaw at ang mga niluluto mo. hehehe!
ReplyDelete@kay - i buy fried chicken at the supermarket. hehehe, no pots and pans to wash.
hi kay - yep, frying's hard so we stay away from that and use as little olive oil as possible..we love to bake instead..about washing pots and pans, i got my share of pagka-OC so i love doing these chores too..
ReplyDeletehi maits - only rustan's/shopwise have them... we do try to explore groceries and try where to get the ingredients..we've run out of dried pepper flakes and still haven't found a source for that though..
hi f - will do upload pics... we're hungry most of the time so we always forget to take snapshots.. :)
