rainy days and ferry boats

I went to Clarke Quay today. I’ve been there only once before and I saw it on a rainy day. I thought it was really romantic. The rain pitter patters on the ferry boats. Hands down this is my favorite place here.

Had great Japanese food on The Central, which is now my favorite mall here. I like the artist’s obsession with glass and escalators. And I liked that it was almost empty, with people few and far between.

Today the weather was perfect. Not sunny, but cloudy. Like it was going to rain, but it was not quite there yet. It brought out the colors of the streets more, but the wind made the water mover more gracefully. And the ferry boats came and went as they go.

I thought about how the perfect date would be on this setting. We would probably head on to ride a ferry boat I’d have rented for the day. And if we’re lucky, a little bit of rain. A good excuse for clam chowder and coffee afterwards. Raincoats and umbrellas. Zigzagging on the streets. Laughing away and running around silly.

Anyway it made me smile. It made me think of the thing I thought of 15 years ago. Maybe tonight I’ll write my poetry for you.
