Got there an hour and a half late after a harrowing mad squeeze at the MRT. It took me 45 minutes to get to QC from Pampanga and an hour and a half to get from North Edsa to Ayala in the MRT. What??!! The number of people riding that tube will make a claustrophobe cry. People literally moved one foot per second. The lines stretched form the ticket booth to Edsa. Now that’s long, multiply that by six, and you have an idea of how many people were there.
Maita, Patrice, Rose and Rubs were already there. On the menu, cheese and pizza and lots of conversations. From almost losing wedding rings, to finding a job and looking for an apartment, Maita and Patrice entertained us with their endearing wit and amusing stories. Next thing we knew we were already planning a DEM Euro trip on 2009. Let’s go backpacking in Europe! An hour later Maui arrived and she ate tapsilog! Classic maui, haha. Later, we're already planning to watch F1 in Singapore in September. King came by a little later.
Some highlights...we were amused by Maita speaking fluent French so we insisted they speak in French. She asked Patrice to each describe each of us in French. Kinda like Maita interviewing Patrice on the spot, and he was pressed to tell something about us. Rose was excellent; Ruby was the sweet lass from Iloilo. Patrice liked my tie, Bob le sponge. We came to a point when the French words usually had their last letters silent –so mocking that thought, like a couple of juveniles. We spoke in Tagalog while omitting the last letters of the word. Like, “Tar Punt Tay S Baha Nin Mau” something like that. We also had to guess the age of a person born in 1918. I put the word “guessed” because being the Pisay-UP whiz kids that we are, none of us knew how to compute that mentally. Just making “intelligent” guesses. Hahaha.
Matrice (Maita and Patrice..hehehe) had to go earlier as they still had a flight back to Cebu on that night. The 5 of us decided to hang-out at the Starbucks at Columns in Ayala. We talked about everything in that table from Jessica Alba being pregnant to Star Wars and Japanese novels to air crash investigations and weddings and work. It was really nice to be with people you never run-out of stories for. We got hungry so decided to walk around RCBC building looking for a nice place to eat. Unfortunately only starbucks was open so we decided to cross the street to eat at Max’s.
The conversations were mostly centered on movies, novels, people in pisay we’ve recently been with, watching the amazing race and everything else. We went back to Maui’s place to play a little Wii. This time it’s about the BRAIN challenge. We played IQ games and beat the crap out of each other, to a point we had to enroll all our mii’s into the university to see our strong points as well as areas for improvement. Rubs and Maui were judged “marketing gurus”, then me and Rose “ museum curators”. Hahaha. We realized that it was a nerdy thing to do but we are anyway from pisay so we have much fun competing as much as playing games. We helped Rose set-up a multiply account, we searched for Brad Pitt's treasure haha, and we watched Leng’s pre-nups slideshow and Peng's baby Katie’s videos over and over. We laughed at Francia’s posts and just basically hung out. Until Maui collapsed into bed as she had a 7am work sched on that morning. At about 130 am we called it a night. In their new, blue Ford car with a sunroof, Rose and Dax gave us a lift to Rubs’ place where I crashed a few hours before I went home happy.
Every DEM thing is happy. Unplanned, unpredictable, unbelievably fun! Seeing you guys was definitely a treat. In less than a month, another DEM wedding, so here's to looking forward to that. Cheers!
