I watched Inception with my sister last Thursday.
It was my first time at the local cinema.
The place was neat and cozy, and being small, has only 5 movies shown daily at 7pm.
Matinees are only on Saturdays.
Curious thing was there were no doors.
The restroom was shared between the 5 rooms, and you can literally walk out of a bad movie and go into the next one. And the fellow that you got your tickets from, is also the one who'll go out and get you popcorn. I'm liking this small town feel. Hehe.
Of course, this is not the case with Inception.
I was actually waiting for it to come out, having seen the trailer in Manila before I left. Let me just say it was OUTSTANDING. For those of you who haven't watched it, please do so. I think this is a movie that deserves watching over and over. Like one of my favorite films of all time, "The Departed", it is truly memorable.
This movie is cerebral. While eating popcorn and downing cokes, we talked about the plot and slowly figured out together what's happening. Dreaming 101 was truly interesting, and the visuals were stunning. I loved the zero gravity action scenes.
I think what made this movie, aside from the great concept, excellent story, and amazing direction, is the great cast. They just played off one another, and each actor owned the part. It's a good ensemble, and this is what sets it apart from the other breakthrough movies.
I kept thinking about dreaming after the movie finished. The funny thing is I was in the restroom, and kept slapping my face and pinching my arm thinking - "Am I really in the restroom, or am I just dreaming now?". Hahaha. That's some effect, ei?
I loved the concept of totems to make you believe you're in the real world. Maybe I should go out and find one unique thing out there, to keep me grounded and real.
